I liked the explanation of different emotional states and how if two people are in two different stage it can cause conflict. It was knowledgeable to learn critical points of development in the children and to keep it in mind when creating a parenting plan. I also found it useful in how to build the children’s resilience. I liked the managing conflict section it helped explain what I am doing to participate in conflict and gives me other options and tools to use. I like the help in problem solving and ways to negotiate with the other co-parent. The parenting plan unit was also helpful to prepare for what is coming next.

It gave me structure and a clear understanding of what’s necessary for a successful coparenting plan. The kids always come first and conflict has to be avoided at all costs, especially around the children.

I liked how it explained how your childhood trauma could affect you as an adult or parent and how you as a parent can prevent causing childhood trauma to your own kids. I liked how it explained ideas to deal with different situations that may come up as a co-parent. I liked how it gave resources and review sheets I can look back at of needed. It gave me reassurance it’s ok to let go and trust when my child is with the other parent.

I liked the self care, the stages of grief and the co-parenting tools. The self care and realizing where I can get stuck emotionally was very helpful. I knew how important it was to talk to my children, but learning about the stages of grief they're going through made me want to be more careful about how I talk and more empathetic to how they may be feeling. The tools for working with my co-parent I think will be helpful. Knowing to avoid trigger, not to get sucked into negative thoughts, words, or interactions, and trying to build on successes are going to be instrumental in changing how we communicate going forward. I think right now as the court part is still happening, it will be hard to implement all of these, but I hope as time moves on we will both move fully into the "moving on" part of our emotional journeys and leave this behind as much as possible.
